What goes wrong most often, what it actually means, and what to do about it. Most of these are configuration, not faults — and the server console usually names the cause. Read it from the top before opening a ticket.
Installation and Access#
The console says a table is missing
Lines such as [reports.migrations] tables missing or [logs.migrations] table `qs_admin_logs` not found mean [sql]/database.sql was not imported — or was imported into a different database from the one in your mysql_connection_string. Import it there and restart.
F5 does nothing
The key only answers framework admins and approved accounts, on purpose. Somebody without an account types /adminmenu to register. If you do have access, another resource has the key: rebind it in your Profile → Shortcuts, or change Config.Shortcuts.openMenu.
I am an admin, but my account still needs approval
The menu did not recognise you as a framework admin. Check that your group (ESX group, QBCore permission) is listed in Config.AdminGroups — or add your license: to Config.AdminIdentifiers, which is the only route on a server with no framework. If the console says Framework loaded: none, your framework starts after qs-adminmenu in server.cfg. Once recognised, logging in approves the account automatically.
"This account does not match this character"
Accounts are bound to the identifier they were registered from. You are signing in from another Rockstar license — or, with Config.MulticharacterAdmin = true, from another character. Use Forgot password? My accounts on the login screen to see the accounts that belong to you right now. After switching MulticharacterAdmin, every staff member registers again.
I changed Config.GroupPermissions and nothing happened
Correct behaviour. Those lists only fill the built-in roles on the very first start. After that, permissions live in the database — change them on the Roles page, where the change applies immediately.
I changed Config.Queue and nothing happened
The same: Config.Queue only seeds the first start. Turn the queue on, change the slots or edit the messages on the Queue page.
A page is missing from my sidebar
Your role does not hold that page's permission. The table in Usage → The Sidebar lists which one; somebody with roles.manage can add it to your role.
Players and Moderation#
"You cannot ban someone of equal or higher rank"
Working as intended. Staff can only ban, revoke or re-rank people whose role has a lower priority than their own. Framework admins and Config.AdminIdentifiers can only be banned by a role with full access.
Give Item shows no items, or Open Inventory does nothing
No supported inventory was detected. Make sure it starts before qs-adminmenu, or set Config.Inventory by hand — see Integrations.
Revive works but the player stays dead in the ambulance script
Your medical script was not detected, so the game's own revive ran and the ambulance script still thinks the player is down. Start it before qs-adminmenu, set Config.MedicalSystem, or add a bridge for an unsupported one in server/custom/medical/.
A given vehicle does not appear in the player's garage
It was stored in the garage named in Config.DefaultGarage — central on ESX and pillboxgarage on QBCore by default. Set it to a garage that exists on your server.
A banned player still gets in
Check the ban on the Bans page: it may have expired or been lifted. If they came back on a new account from another PC, nothing they share with the old one is left to match — ban the new identifiers too. Keep Config.Bans.MatchTokens on. A ban written by hand in SQL is picked up within five minutes.
Staff do not get report alerts
Alerts go to every online staff member whose role holds reports.view, logged into the panel or not. Check the role, and that Config.Reports.StaffNotify is true.
Server Tools#
Resources: "Command execution failed"
The add_ace resource.qs-adminmenu command.… lines are missing from server.cfg, or the server was not restarted after adding them. They are listed in Installation.
"This protected resource cannot be stopped/restarted"
On purpose: stopping Admin Menu, oxmysql, ox_lib or the core FiveM resources from inside the game would cut the ground from under the panel. The list is Config.Resources.ProtectedResources.
Console: "This command is not whitelisted"
Only commands that start with an entry of Config.Console.WhitelistCommands run from the panel. Add the command there if you trust every staff member who has console.execute.
Code Editor: "File changed on server, please reopen file"
Somebody — another admin, or you over FTP — changed the file after you opened it. Your save was refused so their change is not lost. Copy your edit, reopen the file and apply it again.
Code Editor: a file cannot be opened
Only the extensions in Config.Editor.AllowedExtensions (.lua, .json) up to MaxFileSizeKB (256) are allowed. Escrowed files cannot be read by anybody.
The weather panel changes nothing
Two scripts are fighting over the weather — usually a weather resource the menu does not know, overriding it every few seconds. Use a supported one, or set Config.ForceWeatherSystem and stop the other.
Screen Watch, Logs and Tags#
Screen Watch stays on Connecting
The two games could not reach each other directly — common with mobile, CGNAT or strict routers. Add a TURN server (Cloudflare is easiest) as shown in Integrations, then check it with adminmenu:turn:status. Pasting the SFU App ID instead of the TURN Token ID is the usual Cloudflare mistake.
"Voice listen is disabled" or "Voice module is not available"
Config.LiveView.Voice.enabled is off, or your voice resource is not Mumble-based. Adapt server/custom/liveview_voice.lua and client/custom/liveview_voice.lua to its API.
Nothing is posted to Discord
Check that the event, its category's _default or _global has a URL in server/webhooks.lua, and that the event is not set to webhook = false in Config.Logs.Events. The Logs page still shows every event either way.
"Only framework admins can edit admin tag styles"
Correct behaviour. Tag styles change what every player sees over every staff member's head, so they are reserved for framework admins, whatever role they hold in the menu.
Error Messages#
The ones you are most likely to meet, in the panel or from an export:
Message | Key | Means |
|---|---|---|
Your account has not been approved yet. |
| Waiting on the Approvals page. |
Too many requests, please wait. |
| The same action was repeated too quickly. Wait a second. |
No permission for this action |
| The role lacks that permission, or the staff member is off duty under |
Invalid duration (1 minute to 10 years) |
| A ban length outside the allowed range. |
The ban system is not ready (database error) |
| The ban tables could not be created or read. See the console. |
You already have too many open reports. |
| The player hit |
Target player is offline. |
| The server id given in a report, or for Screen Watch, is not online. |
This command is blocked for security reasons |
| The command is in |
