What goes wrong most often, what it actually means, and what to do about it. Most of these are configuration, not faults — and the script says which in the console. Read the lines that start with [qs-siteverywhere] before opening a ticket, and turn on Debug mode for the full story.
Installation and Access#
"You do not have permission to do that." on /sitconfig
The player lacks the ace. The server console prints the attempt with the exact line to fix it: tried to open the config panel without ace "command.sitconfig". Check that the add_ace line names the right group or identifier, and restart the server after editing server.cfg — or type the line in the console. If someone changed Commands → Settings permission, it is that ace you have to grant now.
The settings go back to default after every restart
Nothing is reaching the database. Either oxmysql is not running — the console says "oxmysql is not started" — or the table could not be created, and the console says "could not create qs_sit_settings". In the second case, run sql/database.sql on your database once and restart.
The console says framework resolved: standalone
Your framework started after Sit Everywhere, and the framework is detected the moment it starts. Move its ensure above ensure qs-siteverywhere. Sitting works either way; only the names in the console logs are affected.
"module is not loaded. Run refresh then restart qs-siteverywhere."
A file is missing or failed to load, usually after copying an update over an old folder. Delete the folder and copy the whole resource again, then refresh and ensure qs-siteverywhere.
"ox_lib is not started" in the console
ox_lib must start before Sit Everywhere. Put ensure ox_lib near the top of server.cfg.
The menu does not open, or the cursor stays on screen
The interface ships ready to run in web/build/. If that folder is missing or half-copied, nothing appears — copy the whole resource again. A cursor left on screen is released with ESC: it closes the open panel, and if no panel answers, it tears the whole interface down and gives the player back their controls.
Sitting#
There is no Sit option on a chair
Three usual causes. The target resource started late, or General → Target system is forced to one that is not running — the console says "TargetSystem is forced to … but that resource is not started"; fix it and restart. The player is further than Interaction distance (2.5 m). Or the model is not one of the 261 the script knows, which is the case for most addon furniture: use /sit and Place & adjust on it instead.
"That seat is already taken."
Another player holds that seat point. On a bench or sofa, every one of its seats is taken. A seat held by somebody who left the server is freed automatically the next time anyone asks for it. To turn reservations off entirely, switch off Sitting → Seat claiming.
"You cannot place a seat through walls or solid objects." when sitting on a prop
The walk to the seat did not get there: a wall, a fence, a locked door or another player was in the way, or Walk timeout ran out. Sitting anyway would carry the player through whatever stopped them, so it is refused. Stand closer, or come from the open side.
"You cannot place a seat in mid-air." when using /sit
There is nothing solid under the player within Mid-air margin (1 m) — they are jumping, falling, or standing on the edge of a step. Move onto the flat. Manual placement → Block mid-air switches the check off.
The ped floats above the seat, or sinks into it
The probe could not find the cushion on that model, so the kind's seat height was used instead. Adjust Chair, Stool, Bench or Sofa seat height in the Sitting section — they apply to every prop of that kind — or let players use Place & adjust on it. /sitdev seat shows which kind and which source the script used.
The ped faces into the backrest
That model was authored facing the other way. Players can turn it with Place & adjust; Sitting → Facing offset turns every chair at once, so only change it if most of them are wrong.
The player gets a different sitting animation from the one they picked
Rockstar placed a scenario point on that bench, and the script used it because it is perfectly aligned — with the game's own bench animation. Pressing E switches to the chosen pose on the same spot. To always get the chosen pose straight away, turn off Sitting → Use map scenarios.
The player stands up on their own
Something cleared the pose — another script clearing tasks, a ragdoll — and Sit Everywhere puts it back within half a second. If it keeps happening, look for a resource that clears the player's tasks every frame, like an emote-cancel or anti-AFK script, and keep it away from seated players.
E does not open the change-animation bar
Either Interaction → Change animation while seated is off, the player is on a preset seat (they have no bar, only the stand-up key), or another resource uses the same key. Pick another one in Interaction → Change animation key.
I changed the stand up key and players still use X
That is how FiveM key bindings work: the default only applies to players who never bound the key. Anyone with X already saved keeps it until they change it under Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM → Stand up.
Preset Seats and Locations#
Seats float in the air, or there are invisible boxes in a room
A location is switched on without its MLO installed. Switch it off under Preset locations and restart. Only turn on the maps your server actually runs.
I switched a location on and nothing changed
Every location switch, and most of the Preset seats section, is marked Needs restart. Restart the resource after saving.
A chair shows both Sit down and Choose pose
Correct behaviour. Sit down takes the chair's hand-placed seat in one press; Choose pose opens the picker on it. Turn Preset seats → Preset props off to keep only the picker.
There is no floating prompt over preset seats
With Preset seats → Interaction on automatic and a target resource running, preset seats are on the third eye instead. Set it to Floating text or Both and restart. The prompt only shows within Prompt distance (1.8 m), and not while the player is in a vehicle or already seated.
"This seat is too tilted."
The prop is leaning more than Maximum tilt (20°) — a knocked-over chair. Stand it up, or raise the limit.
"No seat is free here." or "You cannot lie down here."
Every seat of that prop is taken by a player or a ped, or somebody is lying across it.
"You cannot reach this seat." or "There is no room to sit here."
A wall stands between the player and the seat, or a shelf or table edge over it leaves no room for a head. Approach from the open side. Preset seats → Always teleport in skips the walk entirely.
The walk to a preset seat gets stuck
Some interiors are tight. Turn on Always teleport in, or Teleport back when unreachable so a player seated by teleport after a failed walk is sent back to where the walk stopped when they stand up.
Translations#
Part of the panel is in English although I chose another language
The notifications, the third-eye labels and the menus are translated in all 41 languages. The newest panel sections — Preset seats and Preset locations — are only in English and Spanish so far, and fall back to English everywhere else, as does the newest pose name, Upright sit. You can translate them yourself in locales/<code>.json; see Integrations.
A text shows as a key, like notify_seat_occupied
Your language file is broken or a key was deleted from en.json. The console says "is not valid JSON or is missing the root key". Check the file in a JSON validator, or take a fresh copy of it from the download.
Console Messages#
Every line Sit Everywhere prints starts with [qs-siteverywhere]. The ones you are most likely to meet:
Message | Means |
|---|---|
Settings are kept in memory only and reset on restart.
The database user may not create tables. Run
General → Target system names a resource that is not running. No third-eye options are added.
Preset seats → Interaction asks for the third eye on a server without one.
The framework bridge failed. Sitting still works; only the player's identity is unknown.
The framework never answered. Same effect as above; it keeps retrying.
The chosen language file is missing from
Somebody without the permission typed
A command field in
Download the update from the CFX Portal. The lines after it list what changed.
The update check could not be reached. Harmless.
Still stuck? Open a ticket and include the
[qs-siteverywhere]lines from your server console, your framework and target resource with their versions, and — for anything about a specific prop — the output of/sitdev seatwith Debug mode on. A screenshot of the F8 console helps for anything about the menus.
