How a Player Ends Up on Crutches#
There are four ways. Three of them are a prescription: the crutches stay on for a set number of minutes and the player cannot put them away. The fourth is a crutch the player carries by choice.
Source | How long | Can the player put it away? |
|---|---|---|
The |
| No |
The EMS menu | Whatever the paramedic types, with a reason. | No |
Another script ( | The minutes passed to the export (5 if omitted). | No |
A manual crutch | Until the player puts it away. Started by another script — see Commands and Exports. | Yes |
A new prescription replaces the one running, it does not add to it: a player with 8 minutes left who gets 5 more from EMS ends up with 5.
The EMS Menu#
Paramedics open it with /crutchmenu. Only the jobs listed in Config.AllowedJobs (ambulance, doctor and ems_chief by default) can open it; anybody else is told No permission. The job is checked again on the server for every action, so the menu cannot be forced open.

EMS · Crutches offers two entries: Apply crutches to player and Remove crutches from player.
Pick the patient
Nearby player — the closest player within 3 metres. If nobody is that close, you are told so and nothing happens.
By ID — type the patient's server ID, for a patient on a stretcher, in a bed or across the room.
Set the treatment
Applying asks for the minutes (at least 1) and a reason — a sprain, a fall, a gunshot to the leg. Removing needs nothing more.
Action | The patient sees | The paramedic sees |
|---|---|---|
Apply | Crutches applied for 10 minute(s). Reason: Sprain | Applied to ID 12 for 10 min. |
Remove | Your crutches have been removed by EMS. | Removed from ID 12. |
Walking on Crutches#
While on crutches, the player holds the crutch prop in their hand and walks with the injured Config.WalkClipset. Their speed is capped at a walk, any weapon is put away, and these controls are disabled:
Disabled | Default key |
|---|---|
Sprint | Shift |
Jump | Space |
Aim and shoot | Right and left mouse |
Melee attacks | R, F, Q and the mouse |
Weapon wheel | Tab |
Reload and take cover | R, Q |
Getting into a vehicle puts the crutch away; getting out brings it back. The prescription keeps running the whole time.
Losing the Crutch#
The crutch is not glued to the hand. It falls to the ground, where it stays as an object in the world, when:
What happens | Result |
|---|---|
The player takes damage | The crutch drops, the player ragdolls for about a second, and it cannot be picked up again for 2 seconds. |
The player falls | Any fall longer than a moment drops the crutch. |
The player dies or ragdolls | The crutch drops. |
| The player lets go of it on purpose — to sit, to be carried, or for a scene. |
Crawling#
A player with a prescription and no crutch in hand cannot stand. They drop to the ground and crawl until they get it back. Sprinting, jumping and weapons stay disabled.
Key | Does |
|---|---|
W / S | Crawl forwards or backwards. |
A / D | Turn left or right, in place or while crawling. |
Space | Roll from the front onto the back, or back again. |
Entering water or a vehicle stops the crawl. A player who drops a manual crutch does not crawl — only a prescription forces it.
Picking the Crutch Up#
Within about two metres of their crutch, the player sees Press E to pick up the crutch. Pressing E turns them to face it, plays the Config.Pickup animation and puts it back in their hand. The prompt does not appear while they are still falling or ragdolling.
Each player can only pick up their own crutch. Another player cannot take it away from them.
How the Treatment Ends#
Ending | The patient sees |
|---|---|
The time runs out | Your crutches have expired. |
A paramedic removes them | Your crutches have been removed by EMS. |
Another script calls | Your crutches have been removed. |
Either way the crutch disappears, the normal walk and every control come back, and the player stands up if they were crawling. A patient who tries to put a prescribed crutch away early is told Crutch is prescribed by EMS; you can't remove it yet.
Reconnects and Restarts#
The end of every prescription is saved on the character. When a player loads in, or when qs-crutches restarts, the server checks it:
Time left — the crutches come back with Crutches active by EMS. and expire at the original time.
Time passed — the record is cleared and the player walks normally.
Manual crutch — handed back if the player was carrying one when they left.
The clock keeps running while the player is offline. A patient prescribed 30 minutes who logs off for an hour comes back healed — logging out does not pause the treatment, and it does not skip it either.
