What goes wrong most often, what it actually means, and what to do about it. Most of these are configuration, not faults. For anything about a button that should or should not be there, set Config.Debug = true, restart, open the wheel and read the F8 console: it prints every node it checked, the player's job and grade, and why each one was kept or hidden.
Installation and Access#
/radialedit does nothing
The server did not recognise the player as an admin, and it answers that silently. Check the routes in Claiming Admin Access: an ACE line added to server.cfg needs a server restart, and an identifier in Config.AdminIdentifiers must belong to the account that is actually in game. To see that account's identifiers, switch on Config.DevOpenEditor for a moment — the console prints them when they type the command.
"Save failed, see the server console"
The database refused the write. The server console has a line [qs-radialmenu] Saving "…" failed: followed by the reason from oxmysql — usually a lost connection or a database user without permission to create or write the qs_radialmenu table. Make sure ensure oxmysql comes before the resource.
"Server did not respond within 7s"
The editor sent a save and never heard back — usually because the resource was restarted while the editor was open, or the server was under heavy load. Close the editor, open it again and save once more.
The console says standalone, but I run a framework
The framework started after Radial Menu, or it runs under a different resource name. Move its ensure above ensure qs-radialmenu, or pin it with Config.Framework = 'esx' (or 'qb', 'vrp').
"Row … in qs_radialmenu is not valid JSON, ignoring it"
A row was edited by hand — or pasted during an upgrade — and its text is broken. The resource ignores it and uses the defaults for that part. Fix the JSON in that row, or delete the row and save again from the editor.
The Wheel#
F3 does not open the wheel
Try /radial. If that works, the key is the problem: FiveM keeps each player's own binding, so a key changed in Config.OpenKey does not reach players who already have one, and another resource may use the same key. The player checks Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM → Radial Menu: Open. The key also does nothing while the pause menu is open.
The mouse cursor is stuck on screen
Press F10 or type /radialunstick. If it comes back, /radialreload reloads the whole interface. This mostly happens when the resource is restarted while a player has the wheel, the settings or the editor open.
A button or a section does not appear
In order of likelihood:
The player's job, gang or grade does not match. Grades are minimums, job names are exact, and a node with both a job and a gang needs both.
Its
canInteractor one of its conditions returned false. It is a section and none of its buttons are visible — empty sections are hidden.
The server runs standalone, so there are no jobs or gangs at all.
It is an item with no action — those are left out.
Config.Debug = true prints which of these it was.
Sections for scripts I don't have keep showing
Apartments, Laboratory and Motorhome decide whether to show by asking qs-apartments, qs-drugs-creator or qs-motorhome. When that resource is missing the question fails, and a section without a job or gang whose condition fails is shown rather than hidden. Delete those sections from config/menu.lua — or from the editor's tree.
My changes to config/menu.lua do not show
Either the resource was not restarted after the edit, or the editor's Override active is on — then its tree replaces the file entirely. Switch it off and save in /radialedit → Menu, or make the change in the editor instead. /radialeditdebug prints whether the override is active.
The Admin section never appears
The shipped Admin section shows when the player's qs_isAdmin state bag is true. Radial Menu does not set it — your admin resource does. If yours doesn't, replace the canInteract of that section with a job restriction, or with your own condition.
"Error executing action" or "Action not found"
Error executing action means the button's function failed; the notification carries the Lua error, which usually names a resource that is not running or an export that does not exist. Action not found means the menu changed while it was open — close and open it again.
A button does nothing at all
Its event or command has no listener: the resource behind it is missing, or the name is misspelt. Events are case-sensitive. A command is written without the slash — e wave, not /e wave.
The Editor#
Save refuses with a list of IDs
Two nodes share an ID. The message names them, and the ID field of each shows a warning. Give one a new ID — duplicating a node is the usual cause.
Imported buttons are flagged
Their action in config/menu.lua does more than run one command or event, so it could not be converted. Pick a registered action or a custom event for each, or register the code as an action in custom/registry.lua and pick that.
After switching the override on, everyone sees everything
The import does not bring canInteract functions across. Tick the matching conditions on those nodes — Vehicle: in any vehicle, Seats: is the driver, and so on — or add job restrictions, then save.
Players don't see the menu I built
Override active is off, so the tree is stored but not used. Switch it on and save. It reaches everyone online at once; there is nothing to restart.
An action disappeared from the dropdown
It was registered by another resource that has stopped, or custom/registry.lua has an error — look for a red line in F8. Buttons that use it keep their reference and work again once it is registered.
Appearance and Player Settings#
Players cannot change colours, size or position
An admin locked that group in /radialedit → Permissions. The settings panel shows a notice over the locked part, and the wheel uses the server's values for it.
A player's look is different on another PC, or was lost
Player settings live on the player's own PC, not on the server, so a different computer or a fresh FiveM install starts from the server's look again. Changes are also only kept after Save Settings.
The wheel is off screen or too small
Open /radialsettings, set Position back to Center and Menu size to 100%, and save — or press Reset to Defaults. If positioning is locked, the server's own position is the one to fix, in /radialedit → Appearance.
An icon shows as a plain circle
The icon name is not a Lucide icon. Names are written in PascalCase — HeartPulse, not heart-pulse. Search lucide.dev/icons, or pick one with the editor's icon picker.
Error Messages#
What the exports return as their second value, and what the editor shows when a save is refused:
Message | Means |
|---|---|
| The first argument is missing, empty or not a string. |
| That ID is taken — by your own earlier call or another resource. Prefix IDs with your resource's name. |
| The second argument is missing. |
| Both are mandatory on categories and items. |
| No section has that ID. Create the parent first, or add |
|
|
| The item has nothing to run. From another resource, a function does not count — use |
|
|
|
|
| Unregistering something that is not there. Harmless. |
| An editor save from a player the server does not see as an admin — for example after their admin rights were removed with the editor still open. |
| The Actions tab: that row is missing its ID, label or event, or repeats an ID. |

framework loadedlines from both consoles, the F8 output withConfig.Debug = truewhile you reproduce the problem, and your framework and its version.
