What goes wrong most often, what it actually means, and what to do about it. Most of these name themselves in the server console or in the F8 console — and with Config.Debug = true the console narrates every step, which usually points straight at the cause.
Installation and Access#
The crafting window does not open, or opens empty
Open the F8 console and look for the first red line. No such export GetMugShotBase64 means MugShotBase64 is missing or starts after qs-crafting. The same goes for ox_lib and oxmysql. Fix the order in server.cfg as shown in Installation and restart the server.
“You don’t have permission to do that.” when pressing F10
The player is not an admin for the framework and their job is not in Config.CreatorJobs. On ESX the group must be admin or superadmin; on QBCore and Qbox the god or admin permission, or the command ace. A group or ace given while the player is connected may need a reconnect to apply.
The console repeats “Using standalone inventory, this is not recommended”
No supported inventory was running when qs-crafting started, so it has no item list and no recipes can work. Start your inventory before it. If your inventory has been renamed, set Config.Inventory by hand to 'qs', 'ox', 'qb' or 'tgiann' and adjust the resource name inside that bridge.
“Waiting for item list to be populated...” never stops
The inventory is running but has not handed over its items yet — usually because it starts after qs-crafting or failed to load. Check the inventory's own console output, then move it above ensure qs-crafting.
Benches made in the creator disappeared after an update
The full SQL file was imported again. It starts with DROP TABLE, which empties crafting_tables and crafting_queue. Restore those two tables from a database backup. For future updates, run only the ALTER TABLE lines from Installation.
Players lose their crafting level on every restart
The crafting_skill column is missing from users (ESX) or players (QBCore, Qbox), so XP cannot be saved. Run the ALTER TABLE ... ADD IF NOT EXISTS `crafting_skill` line for your framework.
Benches and Recipes#
There is no prompt or target option at the bench
With Config.UseTarget = true, ox_target or qb-target must be running before qs-crafting; with false, the prompt only shows inside the bench's Distance. Set Config.ZoneDebug = true to draw the zones and check where they really are.
“You don’t have access to this crafting table.”
The bench has jobs or gangs and the player does not match one of them with an allowed grade. Edit the bench and check the grades ticked — ESX grades usually start at 0. When a bench has both jobs and gangs, the player needs both.
A config bench with job = 'police' is open to everyone
Benches in Config.CraftingTables are restricted with the jobs list, not the single job and grades fields:
jobs = {
{ name = 'police', grades = { 1, 2, 3 } },
},A recipe is missing from the bench
The server console says CRAFTING ERROR: Item not found in itemList: <name>. The item the recipe makes does not exist in your inventory — a typo, or an item that was never registered. Add the item to your inventory's item list, or correct the name, and restart.
A recipe shows but can never be crafted
One of its ingredients does not exist in your inventory. The ingredient is left off the list, but it is still required, so the craft always fails with “Not enough of the required item”. The console names it with the same Item not found in itemList line.
A recipe says “Recipe Disabled”
Correct behaviour: the player's crafting level is below the recipe's Required Level. The line under it says which level is needed.
The gang list in the creator is empty
On ESX, gangs come from qs-gangs, which must be started before qs-crafting. On QBCore and Qbox the list comes from the framework's shared gangs.
The item on the bench is a paper bag, floats, or sinks into the table
A paper bag means the item has no prop: add it to Config.ObjectModels. A prop at the wrong height needs an entry in Config.CustomObjectModelOffsets. If everything sits wrong on a bench, the bench prop's object offset in Config.ObjectOffsets is the one to tune.
The camera looks at the wrong spot on a custom bench prop
A prop without its own entry in Config.ObjectOffsets borrows the offsets of the default gunrunning bench. Add an entry for it and tune it with /crafting:update_offset — see Usage.
Crafting and Collecting#
“You don’t have enough money to craft this item.”
The price is taken from the account in Config.MoneyType — cash by default, not the bank. The price is per item, so crafting 10 costs ten times the recipe price.
“Cannot collect item because your inventory has no space.”
Nothing is lost: the finished item stays in the queue. The player frees space or weight and presses Pick Up again. In proximity mode the craft is refunded instead, according to CancelRefund.
“The crafting queue isn’t ready yet”
The timer has not finished. Remember the duration is per item: 10 items of a 5-minute recipe take 50 minutes.
Proximity crafts keep getting cancelled
The player drifts beyond Config.CraftingProgression.MaxDistance — 5 metres by default, measured from the bench's position. Raise it for large props or busy workshops.
Players earn no XP
XP is paid on delivery, not when a craft starts, and only for recipes with an XP Reward above 0. With Config.UseAdvancedInventorySkill = true, XP goes to qs-inventory's skill instead.
Someone else picked up my item
Correct behaviour on a bench marked Global: it has one shared queue, and anyone allowed at the bench can collect any finished craft. Turn Global off for personal queues.
Weapon Attachments#
The YOUR WEAPONS tab is empty
The player carries no weapon the inventory recognises as having attachments. With qb-inventory, qb-weapons must be running, since its attachment list is read at start.
The YOUR WEAPONS tab is missing
The bench has Show Weapons Tab turned off (showWeaponsTab = false in the config). Edit the bench to turn it back on.
“This item cannot be used on this crafting table.”
URL tints (weapontint_url) cannot be applied at a bench. Apply them from the inventory.
Console Messages#
Crafting Creator prefixes its messages so they are easy to find: CRAFTING ERROR, CRAFTING WARNING and CRAFTING INFO.
Message | Means |
