What goes wrong most often, what it actually means, and what to do about it. Most of these are setup, not faults. Turn Config.Debug on while you investigate: the server console then prints a [DEBUG] line for every refusal with its reason.
Installation and Start-up#
"No inventory found" and the resource stops
None of the supported inventories was running when Trading Cards started. Make sure your inventory's ensure is above ensure qs-tradingcards in server.cfg. If your inventory has been renamed, force it in shared/config.lua — see Integrations.
"You have renamed the script!" and the console freezes
The folder is not called qs-tradingcards. This is deliberate and cannot be bypassed: rename the folder back and restart the server.
"No cards found" in the console
The catalogue is empty. Import database/sql.sql for the 82 starter cards, or create cards in /cardcreator → Card Creator.
The framework is not detected and the standalone bridge is used
The framework starts after Trading Cards. Move ensure qs-tradingcards below it, or set Config.Framework by hand.
The interface is in the wrong language
Config.Language reads the qs:locale convar and falls back to Spanish. Add setr qs:locale "en" (or your code) to server.cfg. A code with no file in locales/ prints Locale "xx" not found, using en.
Packs and Cards#
"This booster pack could not be opened"
Turn on Config.Debug and read the reason in the server console:
Booster has no cards assigned to it — no enabled card has that pack in its Drop settings. Assign some in the creator.
Unknown booster item — the item is not a row in
qs_tradingcards_boosters. Add it and restart the resource.Player tried to open a booster they do not own — the pack was not in the inventory any more, usually a second use before the first finished.
Rarity has no inventory item configured — a card's rarity has no item; set one in Rarities.
Using a card, a pack or the album does nothing
The item is not registered as usable. Check that it exists in your inventory with the exact same name, and on ESX or QBCore that it is marked usable. On ox_inventory without a framework, add server = { export = 'qs-tradingcards.useItem' } to each item — see Integrations.
A card I created never drops
Check that Available in packs is on, that it is assigned to the pack being opened, and that its rarity's weight is above 0. With the starter weights a Legendary comes out about once every eight cards, so a single card among many is rare by design.
Cards show no icon in the inventory
Copy the PNGs from [img] into your inventory's image folder, named after the items. A rarity you create needs an icon for its item too.
The pack, album or card is not in the player's hands
tradingcards_props is not started, or starts after Trading Cards. Add ensure tradingcards_props above ensure qs-tradingcards.
The card artwork does not load
The artwork URL is not a direct image link, or the host blocks hot-linking. Open the URL in a browser: it must show only the image. Re-host it on a service that allows embedding.
Albums#
"No albums available in your inventory"
The player has no tradingcard_stash, or the item could not be given an id. Check the item exists in your inventory and that it is unique / not stackable — stacked albums share one set of metadata.
"No available slots in this album"
All 180 slots are full. Take cards out, or use another album.
A card could not be taken out of the album
The album is no longer in the player's inventory, or the card's rarity has been deleted so there is no item to hand it back as. The album refreshes to show what it really holds.
NPCs and the Creator#
"You do not have permission to use this command..."
The player has neither the command.cardcreator ace nor one of the groups in Config.CardCreator.adminGroups. Add add_ace group.admin command.cardcreator allow to server.cfg and restart the resource. On standalone, the groups are read as aces, so the player must be in group.admin.
No shop, grader or trader in the world
A fresh install has no NPCs: place them in /cardcreator → Peds. An NPC switched off under Availability stays saved but does not spawn.
"You are too far from this NPC"
The server checks the player is within 5 metres of the NPC's saved position. If you moved the NPC, save it again so the saved position matches where it stands.
"That ped model could not be loaded"
The model name is wrong or not streamed on your server. Use a valid ped model name such as u_m_y_pogo_01.
The [E] prompt does not appear with Config.UseTarget on
That is correct: with a target resource the prompt is replaced by a third-eye option. If no target is running, the console says so and the prompt comes back.
A rarity's item cannot be changed, or the rarity cannot be deleted
Correct behaviour. Once any card uses a rarity its item is locked, and it cannot be deleted while cards point at it. Move those cards to another rarity first. The last rarity can never be deleted.
A built-in theme cannot be deleted
Correct behaviour. Duplicate it, edit the copy and set the copy as the default on your rarities.
Shop and Grading#
"That runs $… and you are short"
The player cannot afford it from the account the NPC charges — cash or bank, set on the NPC. On standalone both accounts read the money item.
The grader says there is nothing to grade
Only ungraded cards in the player's own inventory are offered. Cards inside an album, and cards already graded, are not.
Error Codes#
Callbacks answer with a short code rather than a sentence. You will see these in [DEBUG] lines and in your own scripts:
Code | Means |
|---|---|
The player fired a second request before the first finished.
The player does not hold the item, or a rarity has no inventory item.
The pack item is not a row in
No enabled card is assigned to that pack.
The player is more than 5 metres from the NPC.
The NPC, card or rarity does not exist, or is disabled.
The player cannot afford it from that account.
The card has a PSA rating already.
The cards offered to the trader do not match its deal.
The trader has no enabled cards to give.
A creator action without creator access.
A rarity change refused, as described above.
An attempt to delete a built-in theme.
Give was sent to a server id with nobody online.

Config.Debug = true), your framework and inventory with their versions, and a screenshot of the F8 console for anything about the interface.
