The Creator#
Everything about your safe zones happens in one window, opened with /safezonecreator. On the left is the list of every zone on the server; on the right, the form of the zone you are creating or editing.
Part | What it does |
|---|---|
Search | Filters the list by the zone's name or its blip's name, with a counter of how many match. The list is always in alphabetical order. |
+ | Starts a new zone with the default settings. |
Zone cards | Each shows the name, how many corners the zone has and whether healing is active. Click one to edit it; click it again to close the form. |
Teleport | The pin on a card takes you to the zone — to its blip, or to the middle of the area when it has none — after asking you to confirm. |
| Closes the window. A form you were filling in is still there the next time you open the creator, so you can step out and look around. |
Zones are saved to the database and sent to every player the moment you press save. There is nothing to restart and no file to edit.
Creating a Safe Zone#
Press +. The form opens in five panels — Location Zone, Blip Settings, Access Control, Bypass Items (Weapons) and Safe Zone Settings. Only the name, the area and the blip are required; a missing one is outlined in red when you try to save.
Drawing the area#
In Location Zone, type a Zone Label — the name players read in the enter and leave messages — and press the Zone Points field. The window closes and you are given a free camera just above your character, with a red cross where it is aiming. The keys are also shown in the corner of the screen while you draw.
Key | Does |
|---|---|
Mouse | Look around. |
| Fly the camera. |
| Down and up. |
Left click | Add a corner where the cross is aiming. |
Right click | Remove the last corner. |
| Make the zone taller or shorter. |
| Finish and go back to the creator. |
| Leave the camera. |
Click the corners in order, going round the edge of the area. The zone is drawn as a wall between them: red while it is still small, green once it has at least four corners and a perimeter of Config.MinPointLength (70 m by default). The colour is a guide — a smaller zone with four corners still saves.
The height of a zone#
A zone is flat. Every corner is laid at the height your character was standing when you opened the camera, and the zone reaches half its height above and half below that level. It starts 25 m tall, and Z / X change it while you draw.
Stand on the floor you want to protect before you press the field. For a building with several storeys, make the zone tall enough to cover them; for a rooftop above a busy street, keep it short so the street below is not protected too.
The blip#
Blip Settings puts the zone on the map. The switch in the panel's header turns the blip off for a zone players should not see on the map, and hides its fields.
Field | What it is |
|---|---|
Blip Name | The name in the map legend. |
Blip Sprite | The icon, picked from a searchable list with pictures. |
Blip Color | The colour, picked from a list. |
Blip Scale | Its size on the map, from 0.2 to 1. |
Blip Coordinates | Where the icon sits — and where Teleport takes you. Press the field, move until the red marker is on the ground inside the zone, and left-click. |
New zones start with sprite 153, colour 3 and scale 0.8. Draw the area before placing the blip: the position is checked against the zone you drew, and a point outside it is refused.
Access control#
Inside a safe zone everyone is protected and no one can use a weapon. Access Control lets chosen players keep theirs — the police in their own station, a gang at its hideout. They are still protected by godmode; they are simply not disarmed, and the zone's speed limit does not apply to them.
Who | How it is set |
|---|---|
Jobs | Pick a job and one or more of its grades, then Add Job. Add as many jobs as you need. The pencil on a job changes its grades; the bin removes it. To exempt a whole job, select all of its grades. |
Gang | One gang and the grades of it that are exempt. Shown only when your server has gangs: QBCore and Qbox gangs, or |
Bypass weapons#
Bypass Items (Weapons) lists the weapons that stay usable inside the zone for everybody — a stun gun at the police station, a flashlight at a night-time event. A player holding one of them can aim and use it, and it is not taken out of their hands. Any other weapon is still put away.
The list is built from your inventory's items whose name starts with weapon_, with their labels and pictures. Pick one, press Add Weapon, and remove it again with the bin.
Safe zone settings#
Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Heal on Enter | Off | Players inside recover 5 health every half second until they are full. Also needs |
Show Area on World | Off | Draws the zone's outline in the world for every player — useful while you set zones up, or as a visible border at an event. |
Enable Notifications | On | Tells players You have entered the zone … and You have left the zone …, with its name. |
Vehicle speed limit (km/h) | 0 | Caps the top speed of whoever is driving inside, up to 300. |
Press Create Zone. The zone appears in the list and is active for every player straight away.
Inside a Safe Zone#
What a player goes through from the moment they cross the line until they leave:
Effect | What happens | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
Godmode | The player cannot be hurt or killed. | Everybody inside, exempt players included. |
Disarmed | Attacking and aiming are switched off, and the weapon in hand is swapped for fists. | Everybody except exempt jobs and gangs, and whoever holds a bypass weapon. |
Speed limit | The car cannot go faster than the zone's limit. | The driver's seat, unless the driver is exempt. Passengers are not affected. |
Healing | Health climbs back to full. | Everybody inside, when the zone has it on. |
Messages | A notification on the way in and on the way out. | Everybody, when the zone has them on. |
Leaving lifts all of it at once: godmode off, weapons usable again, the car's top speed released. Weapons are never removed from the inventory — only put away. Access is re-checked continuously, so a player who joins an exempt job while standing inside can draw their weapon straight away.
Editing, Teleporting and Deleting#
Click a zone in the list to open it in the form, titled Edit Zone #id. Change anything — including redrawing the area from Zone Points — and press Save. Every player receives the new version at once, even somebody standing inside the zone.
The pin on a card teleports you to the zone, the quickest way to check one somebody else drew.
The Creator's Camera and Keys#
The free camera's speeds live in CameraOptions and the keys used while drawing in ActionControls, both in config/main.lua. Each key is a GTA control number; the comments below say which key each number is by default.
CameraOptions = {
lookSpeedX = 1000.0, -- mouse look speed
lookSpeedY = 1000.0, -- mouse look speed
moveSpeed = 20.0, -- W A S D
climbSpeed = 10.0, -- Q / E
}
ActionControls = {
forward = { label = 'Forward +/-', codes = { 33, 32 } }, -- S / W
right = { label = 'Right +/-', codes = { 35, 34 } }, -- D / A
up = { label = 'Up +/-', codes = { 52, 51 } }, -- Q / E
add_point = { label = 'Add Point', codes = { 24 } }, -- left click
undo_point = { label = 'Undo Last', codes = { 25 } }, -- right click
boundary_height = { label = 'Z Boundary +/-', codes = { 20, 73 } }, -- Z / X
done = { label = 'Done', codes = { 191 } }, -- ENTER
cancel = { label = 'Cancel', codes = { 194 } }, -- BACKSPACE
}Change a code, not the name in front of it — the names are what the creator looks up.
