This version of Newspaper Job (2.7) is a rework of the earlier releases: the job became single player, the leaderboard moved into the panel, and every payout, item and experience point is now decided by the server. Couriers keep their progress; the config does not carry over as-is.
Updating Step by Step#
Back up your config
Keep a copy of your old
config/config.luaandtranslations.lua— you will copy your routes, prices and texts from them.Replace the whole folder
Stop the server, delete the old
qs-newspaperjoband drop the new one in its place. Do not merge folders: old files left behind would load next to the new ones.Re-apply your settings
Copy your values into the new config by hand, using the table below for what moved or disappeared. Your
Config.Tasksroutes keep the same shape — just drop anyrecommendedPlayersline.Start the server
The database updates itself: missing leaderboard columns are added to
qs_newspaper(each printed asAdded missing column …), new tables are created, and levels and experience are kept. Nothing needs to be dropped.

Map blips only, GPS to the first stop | Ground markers on every stop still owed ( |
Pay, experience and newspapers requested by the client | All handed out by the server from the config, with every stop checked against the courier's real position. |

New settings worth a look: Config.SpawnFade, Config.PedMarker, Config.PlayerNameSource, Config.DeliveryValidationDistance, Config.ReturnValidationDistance, Config.Webhooks and Config.Debug. All are explained in Usage.
Removed Events#
Every event that accepted a price, an amount of experience or a number of items from a client was removed. If another resource on your server triggered one of these, it now does nothing:
Removed | Replaced by |
|---|---|
| The server pays the route at the drop-off, from the config and the stops it counted. |
| Newspapers are handed out by the server when a route starts. |
| Leftover papers are taken back by the server whenever a route ends. |
| Experience comes only from a completed route. |
| Routes are started and tracked per player on the server. |
| Nothing — crews no longer exist. |
| Duty follows the route. Read it with the IsPlayerOnMission export. |
| Nothing — the daily reset runs on the server's schedule. |
The
isPlayerOnDutyandgetOnDutyCountserver exports and theopenNewspaperMenuclient export are unchanged, so scripts that only used those keep working.
